I wanted to revisit a few outfits I bought earlier this year that have proven to be staples or just bring me joy! The white jeans below fit me like a glove and didn’t need any adjustments, and both styles of shoes on my list are in frequent rotation and really work well with just about anything.

  1. sam edelman flat sandals

This was one of my best (and most practical) purchases of the year. These have shown almost no signs of wear so far, despite very regular use! Nordstrom has them in a rainbow of colors and neutrals, and I love how smooth they feel and how easy they are to slip on and off. Check out my review here with a mid-length dress, and you can also see these sandals styled here with linen pants, here with a little black dress, and here with white shorts. Just FYI – if interested in my almond color and your size seems to be sold out, make sure to scroll to the bottom of all the size options as the almond color sizes are listed at the end!

  1. topshop small straight white jeans (also standard length)

A white version of one of my favorite jeans! It’s a decent weight, no see-through issues, and no waist gap around me. I don’t agree with reviewer #1, but I think Topshop does run small. I’m always a size 1 larger in the waist in Topshop jeans and their Petite jeans are very short. As mentioned, I usually recommend their petite jeans for people 5’1″ or under. I sometimes buy their standard length jeans and cut them to the length I want (see my denim cutting tips).

This one is a bit confusing as it doesn’t say “petite” anywhere on the website, but with Topshop jeans you can tell by the second number of the size. Anything ending in “x 28” means a shorter petite length, whereas x 30 or 32 is the standard length. This number doesn’t actually equal the size of the inseam, it just indicates whether it’s a petite or standard length. My white jeans that measure 25 × 28 in length have an inseam size of 23″ and a height of 9.75″.

  1. makeover top + skirt set

This is a delightful little set in a material that feels like knitwear. The top is short and can be worn with any high-waisted pants or summer skirt. The skirt has a half shawl that ties to one side and can be worn with any mini skirt or as a swim cover up! Being petite, I can also wear these two together by pulling the skirt up to my waist so no skin shows in the middle. The sizing feels right on this brand, and in my experience it usually runs a little smaller than other brands. Here are a few other gorgeous reformed garments from Nordstrom that have adjustable features, like tie shoulders, for a better fit:.

  1. ASTR Folded Top

I mentioned this reformed top in a recent post and it’s a great top to wear with jeans and shorts. You can see below I’m wearing it in white and the same top has a feminine little print!

  1. steve madden strappy sandals

Earlier this year I bought a pair of sturdy minis in brown and black. I did try on two sizes to find the perfect fit – I’m usually between a 5 and 5.5 in most shoes, and for these I went with a 5.5 because there was more room in the front straps.
